*REPORT OF THE EMERGENCY CONGRESS HELD ON*



5th April,2025.

Venue: Bode Amoo Hall, CCII Building, Oke-Aremo, Ibadan


The meeting commenced with a motion raised to officially start the session. A representative from the University of Ilorin led the opening prayer, after which all attendees took turns to introduce themselves.


Following the introductions, the Congress proceeded to address the reinstatement of the *FIBSU National Vice President I,* who had been under suspension for a period of nine (9) months. *The Speaker of the Parliament was present and, in agreement with the Congress,* formally accepted and approved her reinstatement back into office.


*Aare Alao,* a respected FIBSU National Stakeholder present at the Congress, took the floor and shared his autobiography. He reflected on his journey, achievements, and contributions to the growth of the Union, offering words of wisdom and encouragement to the Congress.


A motion was raised during the session emphasizing the need for decorum and cultural representation. It was agreed that any delegate who fails to appear in native attire or dresses inappropriately shall be sent out of the Congress venue by the Director of Protocols (DOP) or an assigned officer.


The Congress moved on to the nomination and screening process for the constitution of the *FIBSU National Electoral Committee* for the current tenure. Nomination letters were submitted by interested chapter presidents.

Out of the twelve 12 chapters that submitted nominations, olaniyi oluwaseyi Solomon from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) was disqualified on constitutional grounds. He is no longer an undergraduate student and currently holds the position of Deputy Chief Whip at FOSSU National, which contradicts the eligibility provisions of the FIBSU National Constitution.


The nominated candidates from the remaining eligible chapters were screened accordingly. Upon successful screening, the *FIBSU National Electoral Committee and the FIBSU National Electoral Petition Committee* were constitutionally constituted and officially sworn in.

The Congress concluded with a collective affirmation of commitment to upholding the values, integrity, and unity of FIBSU as preparations toward a successful electioneering process commence.


In conclusion, The president unveiled *THE FIBSU NATIONAL ANNUAL WEEK AND 61st YEARs ANNIVERSARY* which will come up Next month, The National President Urge all members to participate in the Forthcoming program and make sure everything is in Order.

DISCLAIMER ON THE UNCONSTITUTIONAL NULLIFICATION OF THE ELECTORAL COMMITTEE

The attention of the National Parliament and the entire FIBSU community has been drawn to a press release issued by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Umar Faruq, seeking to nullify the Electoral Committee duly constituted and inaugurated by the National Congress on April 5th, 2025, at Ibadan House. We wish to categorically state that the Congress which held on the said date was validly convened and had in attendance over 75 Congressmen and Congresswomen, including 24 Chapter Presidents, Principal Officers of the National Parliament, National Executives, the FIBSU Alumni secretary and a past National President representing the stakeholders.
